Joint Research in Face Analysis and Visual Surveillance (JointFavis)
04/2008 - 03/2010
The goal of the JointFavis project is to make significant progress in facial image analysis and visual surveillance research. The reseach is divided into two parts: face analysis using near-infrared images and tracking and recognition in smart environments. The use of near-infrared imaging for facial expressions has not been studied earlier, which makes this research scientifically novel. The project combines the leading-edge expertise of the Machine Vision Group in texture-based computer vision, face analysis and surveillance with the similar expertise of the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA) in face recognition, surveillance and biometrics.
