Objectives

The objective is to provide basic knowledge about estimation theory and detection theory with applications to digital signal processing.

Implementation:

Lectures, exercises and design exercise (Matlab work). The course is passed either with midterm exams or a final exam and accepted Matlab work. Lectures and exercises are given in Finnish.

J. Mendel: Lessons in Estimation Theory for Signal Processing, Communications and Control, Prentice-Hall, 1995 ja M.D. Srinath, P.K. Rajasekaran, R. Viswanathan: Introduction to Statistical Signal Processing with Applications, Prentice-Hall, 1996, Chapter 3. Lecture notes and exercise material.

Prerequisites:

Matrix algebra, Statistics, Random signals.

Exam:

Midterm exams: 27.2. and 24.4. (Wednesdays at lecture hours). Final exam 3.5.
