The field of computer science and engineering is living an exciting period. New ubiquitous computing requires major breakthroughs e.g. in computer vision, to be able to realize into the living environment as real applications and services. In addition, much emphasis must be laid into the energy-efficiency of computing and embedded systems.
The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Laboratory is responsible for Bachelor, Master and PhD level education in digital signal processing, intelligent systems, information networks and mobile applications, and embedded systems and software engineering in Northern Finland. The Laboratory is part of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, at the University of Oulu.
In addition to undergraduate and graduate teaching, the CSE Laboratory carries out world-class research in intelligent information analysis, machine vision, information security and ubiquitous Internet.
The research is carried out in four closely co-operating groups: Machine Vision Group , MediaTeam Oulu, Intelligent Systems Group and Biomedical Engineering Research Group. All four are full or associate member groups of the Infotech Oulu in period 2010–2013.
